MONTGOMERY -
A 29-year-old woman was killed Friday night after attempting to cross train tracks in Montgomery.
The woman, who has not been identified by authorities, had just gotten off of a bus, according to witnesses. She was crossing the tracks away from posted crossings.
It looked like she was looking at her phone," said eyewitness Brandon Postlewait. "Like she was going to make a phone call. Next thing I know, it happened that quick"
Postlewaite was the only witness to the accident. He had gotten off the bus after the woman and was following some 10 feet behind her across the tracks.
"I kept telling her to stop, please stop, there's a train. But she never listened," said Postlewaite.
He returned to the scene of the accident while family members were there retrieving whatever belongings they could find along the tracks. Coins and a glass frame was all that was left.
Family members said the woman was the mother of four. She had taken a bus from Charleston to visit two of her children.
Montgomery Police are investigating the accident. A report on the incident will be released in the coming weeks.
Our sources have identified the victim, but we are awaiting official notification so family members can be properly notified.
