Raleigh County sheriff's deputies hosted ‘Shop with a Deputy' in Beckley on Saturday.
The fundraiser provided more than 100 under-privileged kids in the county a chance to go on a $100 shopping spree with a deputy at the Wal-Mart in Mabscott.
This year, Cpl. J. Redden said deputies raised more than $10,000 for the kids.
"The community sees us out there with the kids helping out the community. The kids absolutely love being able to shop with a cop. I really think it feels good to take a child that would otherwise have nothing and provide them that opportunity," said Redden.
Redden credits community contributions and a 4-wheeler raffle provided by Swampfox Motor Sports to reaching their goal. '
Each child was able to spend $100 on Saturday, split between toys and warm clothes.
