VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (AP) -

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (AP) - Virginia Beach police say guns have been found on two school properties, but neither posed a threat to students.

Police say children at Star of the Sea Catholic School discovered a gun Tuesday on school grounds and reported it to a teacher, who called police. The other weapon involved an unloaded shotgun found Tuesday at Kempsville High School.

Police told the Virginian-Pilot (http://bit.ly/TwdLma) neither of the weapons was intended for use.

Investigators believe the gun at Star of the Sea Catholic School had been tossed over a nearby fence and discarded. None of the students touched the weapon.

At Kempsville, a school spokeswoman said a student forgot to remove the hunting equipment from his car. They also found a knife. He faces charges.
