LEWISBURG -

Lewisburg is getting a new, larger movie theater soon!

Tuesday night, Dec. 18 at the city council meeting, land owners were given the green light to start planning the construction for an 8-theater cinema.

It would be located in the area behind Lowe's on 219.

Mayor John Manchester says just about everyone is excited for the change.

He said, "We had a lot of people come in over several meetings saying they were looking forward to having the options so I think last night given the formal approval people are excited about it."

November's city council meeting passed the zoning ordinance for the property.

Tuesday night's meeting passed the second reading of the ordinance.
