Concord's Wright Named Men’s Track Athlete of the Week

Concord University men's track and field standout Denver Wright has been named the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Track Athlete of the Week, as announced Friday by the league office.

Wright, a freshman, won the 55-meter dash and finished in third place in the 200-meter dash at the Marietta First Glimpse Meet. Wright recorded times of 6.49 seconds in the 55-meter dash and 22.93 seconds in the 200-meter dash.

Concord also earned a fourth-place ranking in WVIAC's first set of power rankings Friday. Topping the list, which is voted on by the league's coaches, was Seton Hill followed by Wheeling Jesuit, West Virginia Wesleyan, Concord and Glenville State.

Concord returns to action January 11 at the Virginia Tech Invitational.
