Concord University women's track and field standout Shawnee Carnett has been named the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Track Athlete of the Week, as announced Friday by the league office.

Carnett, a junior, won the 800-meter dash at the Marietta Invitational with a time of 2:14.95. The time met the NCAA provisional qualifying standard and is currently the top 800-meter time in the nation.

In addition to her outstanding 800-meter performance, Carnett also helped the Mountain Lions' 4x400-meter relay team to a second-place showing (4:04.62).

As a team, the CU women were voted fourth in the first installment of the WVIAC power rankings, which is voted on by the league's coaches. Wheeling Jesuit topped the list followed by Seton Hill, West Virginia Wesleyan and the Mountain Lions.

Concord returns to action January 11 at the Virginia Tech Invitational.
