CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) -

The West Virginia State Rail Authority is holding public meetings to learn about the state's rail plan.

Officials are set to hold a meeting in Williamson on Jan. 8 and in Mingo on Jan. 9.

The West Virginia Department of Transportation is holding eight meetings statewide to discuss the plan. The first two were held earlier this month in Lewisburg and Huntington.

Meeting participants will be able to learn about the plan, ask questions and express their opinions. Those views will be considered in the development of the plan.

Each meeting will take place from 5:30-7 p.m. A formal presentation will begin at 6 p.m. and will be followed with the opportunity to express comments in a workshop-style setting.
