RALEIGH COUNTY -

This past winter storm wasn't kind to a local church.

On Wednesday, a tree struck Cool Ridge Community Church in Raleigh County. Clay Tree Company was able to remove the tree Saturday.

While the building as a whole was significantly damaged, the roof suffered a beating and a gaping hole, covered by a tarp, is what's left. The heat pump was damaged. Pastor Ron Brownning said there's damage inside classrooms.

Sunday morning service was cancelled. The church is now running on emergency heat. An insurance company will be looking at the church in the next few days. No one was injured and the tree has since been removed.
