If your utility bills are just growing beyond your reach, you may qualify for some help.
The electric company has a program in place called Dollar Energy. The Salvation Army works as an overseeing agency. Funding right now for this program is very low, so they have to be more restrictive on who qualifies.
"When there is plenty of money then all you need is a warning that you are going to be cut off. But as the money gets tighter they want to wait until people really absolutely in need because sometimes folks find other ways to pay bills," said Lt.. Mike Michels of the Salvation Army.
Lieutenant Michels tells us sometimes they have access to a second funding source from the federal government. Right now, the Princeton Salvation army is awaiting on those funds.
