CHARLESTON (AP) -
West Virginia's first so-called super political action committee is considering its options after the recent election.
The PAC Stay the Course West Virginia won a federal ruling allowing its donors to contribute unlimited amounts.
Spokesman Jason Parsons says the group hasn't decided whether it will take part in future elections. But it considers 2012 a success. It was formed to help re-elect Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin, and the Democrat won in November.
Stay the Course reported spending more than $64,000, including more than $10,500 toward pre-election ads. A rival group supporting Tomblin's Republican opponent devoted twice that on independent expenditures. That group, New Direction West Virginia, describes itself as a federally designated nonprofit corporation. But state and federal officials have no such records of the group.
