A former Pennington Gap police chief faces up to 40 years in prison on drug-related charges.

William Bryan Young pleaded guilty Monday to charges of drug conspiracy and burglary of a pharmacy. He entered the plea in U.S. District Court in Abingdon.

U.S. Attorney Timothy J. Heaphy says the 39-year-old Duffield resident engaged in illegal drug transactions and arranged the burglary of a pharmacy while serving as police chief.

Co-defendants Kevin Andrew Young and Chris Miles, both of Duffield, also pleaded guilty to burglary of a pharmacy. They each face up to 20 years in prison.
