GREENBRIER COUNTY -
It's the fuel and fill roller coaster--- they are either up or down--were working for YOU to get to the bottom of West Virginia gouging gas prices. More pain at the pump for drivers as gas prices continue to climb.
But how would you react if you OVER paid at the pump? Our crews were tipped off by a viewer that some travelers may be over paying in Greenbrier County.
We decided to investigated. What we found, prices right off Interstate 64 East cashed in at $3.59. But just a short 6 mile drive, gas at the Exxon cashed in at $3.45, a 13-cent difference.
We snapped a photo and showed it to the travelers who were paying more.
"I would have driven the extra 6 miles if I would have known," Jordan Chrisley,Florida said.
"That's crazy! My bank account is going down that's just insane," Gina Colubiale, Florida said.
Gina, Tyler and Jordan are in a 3 car caravan heading back to the sunshine state.
She estimates they will fill up 4 more times and said even penny saved helps.
Like the folks from Florida many travelers will just pull off the Interstate to the nearest gas station. But people from the area tell our crews it is worth driving around the area to find a better deal.
"As a matter of fact when we are here in town this is where we get our gas," Debra Miller, Rupert said.
Miller always fills up at the Rupert Exxon, this is the station we found to be 13-cents cheaper.
She said unless her GAS light turns on, she will drive the extra miles to keep some extra cash in her wallet.
