The University of Charleston
kicked off its new physician assistant master's program on Jan. 7 with a cohort
of 30 students.
The inaugural UC PA class consists of students from 15
states, including Wisconsin, Idaho,
Utah, Colorado,
California, Texas
and Minnesota. Students began the
two-year master's program by learning the various processes and procedures, as
well as becoming oriented with common medical equipment and learning helpful
study tips.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, physician
assistant jobs are expected to increase 30 percent from 2010 to 2018. Full-time
physician assistants make an average of $86,410 per year.
