Sentencing planned in Mercer County murder case

A juvenile who was involved in a Bluefield murder case is set to be sentenced on Tuesday, Jan. 8.

Jacob Thomas, 19, of Pulaski, Va. will appear in Judge Omar Aboulhosn's courtroom at 1:30 p.m.  Thomas agreed to plead guilty to charges of voluntary manslaughter, burglary and conspiracy. 

Thomas was only 17-years-old in January 2011 when he participated in an attempted robbery at a home on Magnolia Street in Bluefield, W.Va.  During the incident Matthew Flack, a resident of the home, was killed.

In 2012, the victims cousin, Brandon Flack, was convicted of first degree murder in the case.  Two other men, Jasmen Montgomery and Joseph Flack, Jr., also pleaded guilty to charges in the case.
