New study on lung cancer research

Posted: Updated:

Patients with lung cancer may survive longer if they take drugs for high blood pressure or heart disease.

Researchers at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center looked at 722 patients with lung cancer and found patients taking beta blockers lived 22-percent longer than other patients.

Doctors believe beta blockers may interfere with the receptors on cells and keep the cancer from spreading.
