Mountain Lions Compete at Kent State

The Concord University women's indoor track and field team sent four runners to compete Saturday at the Doug Raymond Invitational in Kent, Ohio. Shawnee Carnett led the squad with a fifth-place finish in the mile run.

Carnett ran her mile in a time of 5:18.57, over two seconds faster than the sixth-place finisher. Her time was the top mark by a Division II runner. She also competed in the 200-meter dash, placing 20th at a time of 26.84 seconds.

Demi Kirk turned in two top-20 performances Saturday, finishing 17th in the 200-meters and 18th in the 60-meter dash. Kirk posted respective times of 26.75 seconds and 8.11 seconds.

Donnie Kirk took part in three individual races with her best finish coming in the form of a 19th-place finish (10.22 seconds) in the 60-meter hurdles. She also placed 24th in both the 60-meters (8.32 seconds) and 200-meters (27.16 seconds).

Lydia Powell placed 19th in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:01.03 and 28th in the 200-meters at 27.97 seconds.

The quartet also ran the 4x400-meter relay in 4:13.76 to come in eighth place out of 15 teams.

More Concord athletes will be back in action on January 19 when coach Mike Cox sends athletes to both the Marietta Invitational as well as the Hokie Invitational.
