Temple defensive coordinator Chuck Heater has been hired for the same position at Marshall.
Marshall coach Doc Holliday announced Heater's hiring Monday.
The 60-year-old Heater served as Temple's defensive coordinator the past two seasons. He replaces Chris Rippon, who resigned in November. Marshall allowed an average of 43 points per game during the 2012 season.
Marshall marks the 12th school where Heater has been a coach over a 37-year career. Before going to Temple, he served as co-defensive coordinator at Florida in 2010 and assistant defensive coordinator in 2008 and 2009.
