After a one-year abbreviated term, and a one-year term as Acting Governor, freshly inaugurated Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin was eager to put an end to all the campaigning and celebrate his first full, four-year term as governor with 1,750 of his closest friends.

Tomblin's inaugural ball took place at 7 p.m. at the Clay Center.

Estimates for Tomblin's entire inaugural celebration pegged it at about $400,000, which is about half what the 2009 inaugural activities cost former Gov. Joe Manchin.

A total of 12 bands played throughout the night in every room at the Clay Center, and each room featured a different décor.
