One business in Greenbrier County is getting a financial boost after winning a local competition.
A day and night of rain has left creeks and streams swollen with water and some are already out of their banks.
"Paint Creek is continuing to rise and has blocked two of the three ways out of the Weirwood area," said Steve Cruikshank, Deputy Director of Emergency Services in Pax.
The fire department has gone through the area and advised people to evacuate. An action that was prompted by the Fayette County emergency management office after Paint Creek overflowed its banks at around 11:05 a.m.
Crews are currently working on getting people safely out of the area and monitoring the stream. A Swift Water Rescue team is on stand by.
Cruikshank advices people who are driving on the roads to stay away from high water that is covering the roads. He said that you can never be sure just how deep the water is, and you could stall your vehicle and become stranded as the water rises further.
