The threat of snow for southern West Virginia began early in the morning on Thursday, Jan. 17 as school systems around the area began closing their doors.  The weather held off longer than expected, but the snow began to fall at around 12 p.m.

StormTracker 59 meteorologist said the hardest hit area will be Bluefield, with Beckley being at the fringe of the bad weather and Oak Hill isn't expected to get much snow.  You can get an look at the road conditions from the West Virginia Division of Highways at wv511.
