BECKLEY -

Mark Kinder died Tuesday in an accident in Lewis County when an ambulance he was riding in collided with a flat bed truck.

Kinder, 26, and the paramedic on board were returning to the area after dropping off a patient when the accident happened.

He is remembered as a dedicated, hard-working EMT who had a strong passion for helping others.

"Mark Kinder was an excellent EMT. He started out in his career, had over a year at EMS. He really loved his patients. And we remember stories of the lives that he helped save and the people that he helped comfort and the sense of duty to his community," said Jan-Care Ambulance Service Director of Operations Paul Seamann.

Seamann explained what happened on Kinders' last few moments.

"We know that they had just made a stop and were coming up a hill and the vehicle in front was going considering slower in that lane."

Kinder truly had found his passion and calling in life.

"I think that his family and certainly those who work with him would agree that he had truly found what he wanted to do with his life, and he was very dedicated to that."

Seamann described the kind of person this community will miss.

"He was a fun loving person, he enjoyed his friends, he had a lot of friends that were also coworkers. Just like any young man, he was very energetic and just wanted to live life."
