CHARLESTON, WV — West Virginia's Division of Culture and History will celebrate the traditional music of West Virginia on Memorial Day weekend, May 24-25, at the Culture Center during the 37th annual Vandalia Gathering. The family-friendly event is free.

Kids can create, play and learn as they explore the concepts of construction, motion and simple machines in "Little Builders," a new hands-on exhibit opening Jan. 26 at the Clay Center.

Hand-operate a pulley and conveyor belt to learn about cause and effect, and discover mechanical physics at work by turning the wheels of a crane to transport cargo. Build unique structures with blocks, pipes and gears to find out how size, weight and shape relate to gravity and stability in this interactive learning lab.

The limited-time exhibit will be in the Mylan Explore-atory through May 5. "Little Builders" is sponsored by Lumos Networks, the Home Builders Association of Greater Charleston and the West Virginia Home Show.

Museum hours are Wednesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, noon to 5 p.m. Gallery admission is free for members or $6 for children and $7.50 for adults. Films and planetarium shows are additional.
