MOUNDSVILLE (AP) — Smoking would no longer be allowed in hotel rooms and some outdoor areas in Marshall County under a proposed expansion of the county's existing ban.

The Marshall County Board of Health is expected to vote on expanding the smoking ban on Feb. 8. Public comment is being accepted until Jan. 31.

County health department administrator Ronda Francis told The Intelligencer and Wheeling News-Register that the proposal would ban smoking in outdoor venues such as parks, playgrounds, outdoor dining areas, fairs and festivals.

Smoking would still be permitted in bars, private clubs, bingo operations, limited video lottery rooms and tobacco stores.
