As snow falls all across Southern West Virginia, and with more on the way, drivers are encouraged to be prepared for snow and ice covered roads. Black ice is a major concern with the temperatures plunging into the single digits.

So we turned to the experts over at AAA to find out how to handle the frozen roads.

"Pump your break don't slam on your brakes. and keep distance between you and the vehicles around you. it is really important to allow yourself enough time to stop if there is any sliding that should occur," Crissy Gray, District Office Supervisor said.

Gray also encourages drivers to keep an emergency kit in their vehicle. It should include blankets, food and water. Drivers are also encouraged to make sure their cell phone battery is fully charged before hitting the road.
