Former Virginia guard sentenced on bribery charges

Posted: Updated:

A former guard at the Southwest Virginia Regional jail is sentenced on bribery and other charges.

Jeremy Horne will spend a year and a half in prison.

He pleaded no contest to the charges last year.

He was sentenced to 10 years on each charge,  for a total of 20 years.

Commonwealth attorney Dennis Lee tells us based on Horne's lack of criminal history, his sentence was reduced.

In addition to prison time, Horne was fined $2,500 and put on five years probation.
