Greenbrier union workers vote on contract

WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS (AP) -

Union workers at The Greenbrier resort are voting on a proposed 5-year contract.

Workers United Local 863 spokesman Peter Bostic declined to release details of the proposal. But he tells The Register-Herald that a bargaining committee had unanimously endorsed the agreement.

About 1,200 employees affiliated with eight unions work at the White Sulphur Springs resort. Voting was taking place all day Friday.

Resort President Jeff Kmiec says the agreement is "very positive for the employees and the resort."

An existing agreement that was ratified in 2009 expires next Thursday.
