BECKLEY -

A round of freezing rain is expected in some portions of the WVNS viewing area late Sunday and early Monday.

The National Weather Service has issued a Freezing Rain Advisory from 10 p.m. Sunday until 5 a.m. Monday for Raleigh and Fayette counties and from 9 p.m. Sunday until 10 a.m. Monday for Summers, Monroe, Mercer, Greenbrier, Bland and Pocahontas counties.

Generally a tenth of an inch or less of accumulating ice is expected.

StormTracker chief Meteorologist Spencer Adkins says not everyone will see ice on the roads, but drivers still need to play it safe.

"You really need to watch the temperature as some sheltered valleys will have cold air trapped there while some hilltops will be well above freezing.  The best advice is to simply drive slow on anything that even looks wet because it could be a glaze of ice," said Adkins

Warm air is expected to rapidly move in about the time the Monday morning commute is finishing.  High temperatures should rise well into the 40s according to the Stormtracker meteorologists.

"The biggest problem will be in the morning and we just want people to drive safely so everyone gets where they want to be," added Adkins.
