MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) -
West Virginians for Affordable Health Care wants to educate women about how the new Affordable Care Act affects them.
The first of several town hall meetings statewide is set for Monday night at Valley HealthCare System in Morgantown.
Presenter Renate Pore will outline important changes, including access to pap smears and mammography screenings without deductibles or co-payments.
Pore says women often make their families' health care decisions, and they need good information.
Panelists include Delegates Barbara Fleischauer and Charlene Marshall, two Democrats from Monongalia County.
Fleischauer says changing the nation's health care system to put more emphasis on wellness and prevention is a fundamental shift. She says women will be the major beneficiaries.
Other sponsors include the American Cancer Society, the West Virginia AFL-CIO and the West Virginia Nurses Association.
