An attempted murder case wound up in Mercer County on Monday, Jan. 28 as the man who committed the crime was sentenced in a Princeton courtroom.
James Marvin Wells, 53, was sentenced in front of Judge Omar Aboulhosn at 10 a.m. On Saturday, Oct. 22, 2011, Well was involved in an incident in the area of Caperton Ave and Prince St. in Princeton. He apparently had a man tie up a 26-year-old Princeton man with his own belt, while Wells held a gun on the man. A round was fired from the gun that grazed the victims head.
Wells was charged with holding a hostage, wanton endangerment and attempted murder. Judge Aboulhosn sentenced Wells to the maximum sentence on the charges, which is five years in prison for each. Aboulhosn said the sentences will run concurrently, which means at the same time. Wells will be given credit for the more than 400 days he spent in the Southern Regional Jail. For the rest of his sentence, Wells will be held in a state penitentiary.
