CLARKSBURG -
A committee assembled on Monday to decide who will fill Sam Cann's vacant seat in the House of Delegates.
Cann vacated the seat to replace former Senator Joe Minard, who resigned this month to become clerk of the Senate.
Eight people applied to replace Cann, and five of them met with the committee Monday to convince them they were the right choice for the job.
The committee decided on three people that they will recommend to Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin: Frank "Chunki" Angotti, former Delegate Ron Fragale and Martin Shaffer.
"I think the result shows that we went with perhaps the absolute most experienced people. Everybody that was on there has one way or the other been involved in politics for many years, so it was a tough decision," said committee member Bill Ramsey.
Ramsey said that he'll deliver the names to Governor Tomblin on Tuesday. Tomblin will then have five business days to choose one person to fill the vacancy.
