FAYETTEVILLE -
59 News has an update into a story we brought viewers last week. If you remember days ago,our crews introduced viewers to Judith Sorrell, a 68-year old grandmother living in Fayette County without heat. The folks at Childer's Enterprises offered to diagnose the problem free of charge. Sorrell needed a new draft motor, a part she could not afford.
Once 59 News aired her story, there was an outpouring of community support offering to open their wallets to pay for part. Our station was contacted by Ferguson Enterprises who owns Lyon Conklin in Beaver-- they stepped up to donate the needed part.
59 News crews went along for the final fix of the furnace.
Don't be fooled by this warmer weather on Tuesday. It has been a harsh winter in the mountain state. Last week went our crews visited the Sorrell family temperatures were in the single digits. Arctic and cold, but not just the outside but inside 68-year old Judith Sorrell's home as well.
The crews for Childer's Enterprises volunteered to have a look at her heating system. What they found-- a busted draft motor.
"Basically without the draft motor nothing works. The motor comes on it attaches to the heat exchanger it pulls the heat out the chimney," Ted Ennis, a technician said,
As Ted got to work, we caught up with Judith.
"I kept them heaters for back up. I was afraid to move them," Judith Sorrell said.
Still surrounded by heaters, but this time they were switched off, Sorrell said it feels like a large burden has been lifted! She even told our crews about the newest addition to her family, a puppy named Polar, much warmer than her name suggests.
Within 20 minutes, the part is installed and Ted joined our crews with the good news.
"I don't think you are going to need another motor like that until its time to replace the furnace, Ennis said.
"It is wonderful baby," Sorrell exclaimed.
