BLUEFIELD (AP) -

A crackdown on prescription drug trafficking in southern West Virginia has netted a guilty plea, a sentencing and an arrest.

The three cases are the latest resulting from the Bluefield Pill Initiative. Launched in June 2011, it targets prescription drug trafficking in Mercer, McDowell and Wyoming counties.

The Bluefield Daily Telegraph reports that 53-year-old Thomas Jennings of Columbus, Ohio, received a year in prison this week. The former West Virginia State Police trooper pleaded guilty in September 2012 to drug distribution.

In another case, 34-year-old Trusby Hubbard of Bluefield pleaded guilty this week to drug distribution.

Police arrested Robin Bolton Wednesday afternoon after a federal indictment was unsealed. The indictment charges Bolton with drug distribution.
