Raleigh County Sheriff sticks to his guns on new Gun Violence proposal

Vice President Joe Biden says curbs on guns can reduce firearm deaths but won't ensure an end to mass killings like December's slaying of 20 first-graders in Newtown, Connecticut.

Biden met with Senate Democrats on Thursday to urge them to support the gun restrictions that President Obama proposed.

"I can't imagine a situation where a sheriff or any chief of police in any local law would be required to go and collect firearms and that's something I certainly would not support doing," said Raleigh County Sheriff Tanner.

Biden says lives can be saved by curbing firearms without restricting the right to bear arms.
