Update 9:30 a.m.

Major Harold Heatley with the Tazewell County Sheriff's Office informed 59news that the trouble that was causing 911 calls to be re-routed to other jurisdictions on Friday, Feb. 1 has now been corrected.

Residents of Tazewell County can now use 911 to call in their emergencies as normal, rather than having to use the non-emergency lines.

The Tazewell County Sheriff's Office is alerting residents of the county to a potential problem when people attempt to call 911 in an emergency.

Chief Deputy, Harold Heatley tells 59News that there has been some damage to a major phone trunk line.  The damage lead to some 911 calls being routed to other jurisdictions.  While the phone lines are being worked on, deputies said that people who need to contact emergency services should dial the non-emergency number at 276-988-0645.
