A well known West Virginia Filmmaker has passed away.

That is according to WVNS-TV's sister station, WOWK-TV.

Friends say Bob Gates passed died at the age of 69. He had recently been voted the President Emeritus of the WV Filmmakers Guild.  He had retired from the President position.

Gates is being remembered not only for his own work but for his efforts to nurture other filmmakers as well.
 
Among many other accomplishments Gates is known for documenting the Buffalo Creek disaster.
