PRINCETON -

Concord University men's track and field standout Robby Peters, who set a school-record in the 5,000-meter run at the D-II Team Challenge, has been named the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Track Athlete of the Week, as announced by the league office Thursday.

Peters ran the 5,000-meter in 14:50.87, shattering his previous Concord record-time of 14:58.00. The time is the fastest by a WVIAC runner this year and just three seconds off of the NCAA provisional qualifying standard.

As a team, Concord was slotted third in the weekly WVIAC power rankings behind Seton Hill and Wheeling Jesuit.

Peters is no stranger to WVIAC awards; he was named the WVIAC Runner of the Year as well as Runner of the Week five times during the cross country season.

The Mountain Lions return to action Feb. 15 at the Virginia Tech Challenge.
