PRINCETON -

A pair of Concord University softball players received recognition from the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference for their performances last week. Senior Becca Gleason was named the WVIAC Player of the Week and sophomore Lacey McDougall was selected as the WVIAC Pitcher of the Week, the league office announced Monday.

The awards took into account both players accomplishments from the first two weeks of the year. Through nine games this season, Concord is 4-5 overall. The Mountain Lions are on a two-game winning streak after closing out the UNCP Invitational with wins over UNC-Pembroke and Fayetteville State.

Gleason has played in seven games this season and is batting .440 with seven runs scored, one home run and six RBI. Gleason, who was named to the UNCP All-Tournament team last weekend, has a .462 on-base percentage and a .600 slugging percentage. She has four multi-hit games already this year and is currently on a three-game hitting streak.

McDougall is 3-2 on the year with a 5.34 ERA. In 30.1 innings, she has struck out 11 batters and held opponents to a .279 batting average. McDougall, who was also voted to the UNCP All-Tournament team, has pitched three complete games in four starts. Offensively, she is batting .406 with six runs scored and four RBI.

Concord returns to action with five games at the Shaw Invitational starting 1:00 p.m. Friday against UVA-Lynchburg.
