PRINCETON -

The Concord University baseball team earned two West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week awards after two standout performances by a pair of Mountain Lions last weekend in their season-opening series at No. 29 Armstrong Atlantic.

Senior outfielder Bret Blevins was named the WVIAC Player of the Week and junior Ryan Weatherholtz was selected as the WVIAC Pitcher of the Week, the league office announced Monday.

Blevins went 7-for-14 with three runs scored and two RBI in Concord's three-game series at Armstrong Atlantic. Blevins, who also hit two doubles, recorded an on-base percentage of .533 and a slugging percentage of .643 against one of the best teams in the region.

Weatherholtz nearly led Concord to an upset victory in CU's first game of the year against AASU. He gave up just two runs and six hits while striking out three batters over five innings in a one-run, 5-4, loss.

Concord will play three games at next weekend's CIAA-WVIAC Challenge in King, N.C. starting with a 4:00 p.m. contest vs. Chowan on Friday.
