BEAVER, W.Va -
A Beaver man led police on a high-speed chase.

Deputies said, Carlos Burnside stole a car and robbed two businesses before fleeing from police.

Burnside stole the car around 7 p.m. Sunday, after a woman left her car unattended and running, while she paid for gas at a Shell gas station in Daniels, deputies said.

Burnside was with two other people when they fled the gas station. They continued to One Stop on Harper Road where they held the store clerk at gun point. Deputies say a few hours later they robbed a second store; the Little General Store in Beaver was hit.

Deputies were in hot pursuit of the suspects within minutes. That is when the suspected driver crashed into a deputies cruiser.

The 80 mph chase ended when the driver of the stolen car clipped a telephone pole, crossed over Hunter and Kanawha Street, then smashed into a brick wall at Rising Stars Daycare Center.

No children were injured. The crash happened after business hours. While repairs are made, a spokesperson from the daycare center said children will be moved to another classroom. She assured parents they will not need to make other arrangements.

Burnside is charged with grand larceny and two counts of armed robbery. The two other suspects were taken to the hospital, and could face charges later.
