W.Va. attorney general announces ethics reforms

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) -

West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey's office is undertaking a series of ethics changes in an effort to end what he calls "incumbency self-protection."

Morrisey promised Monday to stop producing tax payer-funded promotional trinkets such as key chains and magnets with his name on them.

He also pledged to limit himself to two terms in office and said he will propose a constitutional amendment to limit future attorneys general to two terms. Morrisey also will stop the attorney general's office from running any advertisements with his name or picture during an election year. Those ads would be left to his political campaign.

Morrisey also sent a letter to President Barack Obama asking him to consider West Virginia's interests when he nominates a new administrator for the Environmental Protection Agency.
