RAINELLE -
One town in Greenbrier County has been putting up with periods of dirty water off and on for years now.
But today the town of Rainelle is announcing their plans to fix the problem and they're inviting the public to speak their mind.
Crystal Critchley lives in Rainelle and said, "It's disgusting, it's brown, and sometimes it even has chunks of dirt and rocks in it."
The water in Rainelle is pretty well known for its problems.
Back in December 59 news brought you the story of a mom who didn't even want to bath her kids in it.
And it's still the same story for others.
Critchley said, "I'll go to give my 7-year-old a bath and turn on the water and he's like 'Ew mommy I don't want to take a shower the water is disgusting.'"
The town has been working to fix the problem for a while, but now they're ready to make the official announcement and they're asking residents to come ask questions and express their concerns.
Mayor Andy Pendleton says it's a huge project that's taken about a year just to plan.
She said, "It does take a lot of money step by step for the project. But when the engineer's come they can explain to people what they plan to do."
Critchley said, "I'm very excited I just hope they stick with it."
Everyone has high hopes for the project especially with the chunk of change the town is dishing out for it.
Pendleton said, "We certainly hope that this 2.6 million dollars will meet the needs."
The project is expected to begin in July and hopefully be complete by winter of 2014.
The public meeting was held at 7 p.m. Feb. 18 in Rainelle Town Hall.
