BECKLEY, WV (AP) — The West Virginia Ethics Commission will hold a hearing May 1 on ethics allegations against Beckley Mayor Emmett Pugh.

Media outlets reported the hearing's new date Tuesday. The proceeding had been set for Jan. 28 but it was postponed.

The commission filed civil charges in March 2012 alleging Pugh received more than $12,000 worth of ownership interests in companies in exchange for providing city contracts and free use of city resources. The mayor also is accused of inappropriately using a vehicle leased by the Beckley Sanitary Board.

Pugh denies the allegations.
