BECKLEY, W.Va -
"He hears voices in his head. The voices in his head tell him to hurt somebody," said Marsha Walters, the mother of Christian Hines.
Christian Hines will spend 22-30 years in prison. He pleaded guilty on Thursday, Feb. 21 to two counts of first degree robbery. He was also on probation for grand larceny and two counts of forgery.
59News pointed out the road where Hines broke into the home of an 86-year-old woman on June 14. He tied her up and then demanded cash and pain medicines. Hines was no stranger to her. She had been paying him to shovel snow. Prosecuting Attorney Kristen Keller told 59News that four days earlier, he had done the same crime, this time by himself, to an 80-year-old woman.
Although Hines did not inflict any serious pain or injuries upon the victim this time, Walters said he is extremely dangerous.
"He told me he would shoot me and not think twice of it. That he would burn me in my house. I think my son is going to be the death of me, I really do," said Walters.
Walters told 59News how she feels about Hines' long jail sentence.
"I love my son with all my heart, but I know that something has got to happen. Justice needs to be served upon him," she said.
When we asked her if she wishes she could apologize on her sons behalf, this is what she had to say.
"Yes. Very much. I would, Oh God, I'd do anything for her. I feel so bad for what he has put her and her family through. It breaks my heart."
According to his mother, Hines was on anti-psychotic and antidepressant medicine for schizophrenia, depression, bi-polar disorder and ADHD.
Hines is currently in the Southern Regional Jail and will soon be transported to the state penitentiary.
