Funeral arrangements announced for coal miner John Myles

February has been a tragic month for the coal mining industry in West Virginia.  Since the month began there have been four coal miners killed at mines and preparation plants across the state.  Two of those deaths were at the Affinity Mine in Raleigh County.

The second of those lead to the death of John Myles, 44, of Hilltop, W.Va.  Myles was a U.S. Army veteran who served during Desert Storm and did a tour in Korea. with the First CAV Scout Inf. Myles is survived by his wife, two sons and three daughters.

A visitation for family and friends of Myles will be held at the Dodd-Payne-Hess Funeral Home in Fayetteville from 6-8 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 23.  The funeral will be held on Sunday, Feb. 24 from 1-2 p.m.  Myles will be laid to rest with military honors by American Legion Post 149 at Huse Memorial Park in Fayetteville after the funeral service.
