Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southern West Virginia is sponsoring a unique event this weekend to raise funds for the charity.

Local power weightlifter Allen Baria will attempt to break his personal bench press record of 850 pounds.

RMHC is asking supporters to pledge any amount – from a penny on up – per pound they believe Allen will be able to lift. Allen hopes to lift at least 900 pounds.

Supporters of the RMHC, weightlifting enthusiasts and the general public are invited to witness the event at noon on Saturday, Feb. 23 at the Charleston Family YMCA located at 100 YMCA Drive.

A $5 donation is suggested at the door.

Individuals or groups interested in pledging toward the event should contact Dewayne Dickens, RMHC Executive Director,ddickens@suddenlink.net or (304) 346-0279, or visit www.charlestonrmhc.com.
