A Summers County man charged with arson after a massive fire in Hinton earlier this week made a court appearance in the town where the blaze took place.
Billy Joe Gill, faced a judge for a preliminary hearing on Friday, March 1. Gill is charged with first degree arson. Police said he set fire to a row of houses in Hinton that are known as "The Brick Row."
There are now 30 people who are homeless because of that fire, but according to Gill's attorney, Ryan Keesee, Gill said he did nothing wrong.
"My client maintains his innocence of these charges, he believes the true perpetrators are still at large. He hopes to be vindicated at trial," said Keesee.
At the hearing, Gill was denied a reduction of his bail from $200,000 to $20,000.
