Couple distributes items to fire victims in Summers County

Posted: Updated:

Victims of the devastating fires in Summers County get some much needed help today.

A couple, who runs a flea market, set up shop just off of Route 12, Saturday, to hand out items to people in need.   All they had to do was grab a box and fill up just what they needed.

The items come from two warehouses full of furniture and household items Cindy and James Martin own.

If you're one of the victims of the house fires in Hinton, and need contact with the Martin's, please contact WVNS by emailing us at news@wvsnstv.com.

The fires started just after 1:20 a.m. Feb. 26.

Flames were practically leaping from a home on 5th Avenue.

Minutes after the first fire, another fire broke out three blocks away on Temple Street.  That fire spread quickly to several other structures.

The buildings were burned from the ground up leaving people out in the cold and homeless.

The state fire marshal was called in and Billy Joe Gill of Hinton faces 2 counts of first degree arson in connection to the fires.
