A high school music teacher in southern West Virginia is one of the ten finalists for the Great American Teach Off.

Jeremy Rodriquez, the music and percussion instructor at Liberty High School in Raleigh County was selected for the national contest where people vote for their choice online.  There are two categories: Kindergarten through Sixth Grade and Seventh through Twelfth Grade.

There are five rounds of voting and there are five days left in the first round.  Right now, Rodriguez is in the top five.  If he wins he will have a chance to show off his innovative teaching style to the nation.  He will also receive a $10,000 classrooms grant.  Jeremy Rodriguez intends to use the money to "help out kids, school and community" by making his school an even better place to learn.

Voting began on Monday, March 4 at 3 p.m.  Votes can be cast once a day in the current round. To cast your vote, just head to the Great American Teach-Off web site.
