59News first reported on Tuesday, March 5 that the case against Billy Joe Gill,25, of Hinton was presented to the Summers County Grand Jury. Gill is charged with setting the fire that burned nearly a dozen homes on Temple and Fifth Avenue in Hinton. The blaze also left around 30 people homeless. That fire was set on Tuesday, Feb. 26 and burned for days.
Police told 59News on Tuesday that the case prevented to the Grand Jury included additional charges, and while they could not release the nature of those charges at the time, the Grand Jury has now officially released their list of indictments. On the list, Gill is charged with two counts of First Degree Arson and two counts of Attempted Murder.
Gill is being held in the Southern Regional Jail on $200,000 bond.
There were a total of 25 indictments issued by the Summers County Grand Jury session that met in March 2013. Charges ranged from Robbery and Bringing Stolen Property into the State to Gill's Attempted Murder charges and a string of Sexual Assault charges leveled at Keith Dement, 36, of Jumping Branch.
Dement was indicted on four counts of First Degree Sexual Assault, one count of First Degree Sexual Abuse and five counts of Sexual Abuse by a Parent or Guardian. Dement is the Southern Regional Jail on two bonds. One for $20,000 and a second for $50,000.
