A Federal Reserve look ahead at the U.S. economy is among the presentations booked for the 2013 Morgantown MSA Economic Outlook Conference, to take place Tuesday, March 19 at the Waterfront Place Hotel in Morgantown.

The event is presented annually by the Bureau of Business and Economic Research at West Virginia University's College of Business and Economics, and will feature Andy Bauer, a regional economist with the Baltimore Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond.

Bauer holds a bachelor's degree from American University and a doctorate from Emory University. In addition to following the national economic outlook, he monitors the Fifth District economy. He speaks regularly on national and regional economic conditions to academic groups, business associations and civic organizations.

Previously, as a senior economic analyst on the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta's macroeconomic team, Bauer co-authored articles on macroeconomic forecasting, consumer inflation measures and shocks to the U.S. economy during recessions.

Additional presentations at the conference include a global economic outlook by Jose "Zito" Sartarelli, Milan Puskar Dean of the college, and the West Virginia economic outlook, presented by Paul Speaker, associate professor of finance and economics at B&E.

A panel on economic conditions across the state includes Betty Carver, commissioner of the West Virginia Division of Tourism; West Virginia Division of Energy Director Jeff Herholdt; Joe Letnaunchyn, president and CEO of the West Virginia Hospital Association; Larry Mazza, president and CEO of MVB Bank; and West Virginia Department of Revenue Deputy Secretary Mark Muchow.

The event will take place from 8:30 a.m. to noon. Continental breakfast begins at 8 a.m.

Registration is $55, or $20 for college students with valid student IDs. Registration is required for all attendees.
